The U.S. Senate approved a one-week extension of federal government funding, averting a partial government shutdown that was scheduled to begin Saturday.
The measure, which passed 71 to 19, gives lawmakers an additional week to negotiate and pass a comprehensive bill to fund federal agencies through the fiscal year.
16th District Members,
Congratulations. As you will see soon on our District social media sites the Senate passed the NDAA (Defense Bill) that contained several federal firefighter beneficial issues such as minimum staffing and Federal Firefighter Presumptive Disability for certain cancers and diseases.
BLUF: Agencies must grant leave-eligible employees up to 4 hours of administrative leave to receive the updated COVID-19 vaccine (as well as primary series doses, which remain available to unvaccinated individuals).
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and we have two weeks to put in our Shirt Orders. Just like in the past, members will be allowed to wear the Breast Cancer Awareness Shirts In Liew of their station shirts. This year, shirts are $20 a piece. Contact your Battalion Steward to get your orders in. Cash is preferred. Shirts are available for friends and family as well.
CPF 5th District Federal Leaders,
The CDC has made changes to its recommendations regarding COVID-19 two weeks ago. I was waiting on the "trickle down", and here it is.
The administration is now sending down guidance to no longer test unvaccinated people and employees.
Please support our members for the 2022 San Diego 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb!
Family and Friends,
Remember waking up on 9/11/01 believing America was under attack? For us, the memories of September 11th remain just as vivid as the day it happened. You can help raise money and awareness to support FirefighterAid.
